The properties of cabbage

I got January King cabbage this week on my weekly farmer’s market shopping and would like to share with you the wonderful properties of cabbage.

Cabbage belongs to the Brassica family of vegetables and it somes in a variety of colours and shapes.

Cabbage is low in calories and rich in fibre and vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

👉🏼 Particularly rich in Vitamin K and C

👉🏼 Rich in antioxidants such as sulforaphane, kaempferol, anthocyanins etc

🔸️ Improves digestion

🔸️ Reduces the risk of heart disease

🔸️ May reduce high blood pressure

🔸️ Reduce inflammation

🔸️ Contains phytosterols which help to reduce LDL cholesterol

🔸️ Amazing source of Vitamin K which plays an important role in blood clotting, bone metabolism and regulating calcium levels and etc.

Cabbage is such a versatile vegetable; it can be used raw in salads or coleslaw, or it can be cooked in many different ways as in curries, casseroles, stir fries or as a stuffed roll.

It is also a very affordable vegetable where 1 cabbage can be used for multiple recipes.
